PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING
TO DISCUSS
The Ten Year Plan

Thursday March 18th 2010, at 7:00PM
At the Arnstein Jewish Community Center
6800 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37919

Area Homeowners have asked Jon Lawler, Director of the Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness for the mentally ill, alcoholic, and drug addicted to discuss the Ten Year Plan.
What is it? How are sites selected? What services are needed? How it works. Will it cost $20 million dollars a year? Who pays for it? Why should the “scattered approach” be considered? And how it is similar to the Seattle Plan?*

This is a Public Meeting and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to the discussion. Gene Patterson from WATE will moderate the meeting.

*The Seattle Plan like the Ten Year Plan has no requirement for substance abuse counseling, abstinence, sobriety, or drug testing to insure sobriety.
“These findings suggest that stable housing provided to people who are still drinking and addicted to alcohol can reduce their use of crisis services and ultimately their consumption of alcohol,” Larimer said, noting that virtually every person invited to participate had agreed to enroll. The study also notes that restrictions on the consumption of alcohol in a housing environment may well prevent those most in need from accepting help."
